How Is Miss Ruddock’s Terrible Loneliness Conveyed In Alan Bennett’s Es

How Is missy Ruddocks Terrible Loneliness Conveyed In Alan BennettsA Lady Of letter?Miss Irene Ruddock is an ordinary middle-aged woman who lives on herown. She was close to her fuss who had recently passed a panache. MissRuddock has no real friends and finds it difficult to fill her measure soshe is often sitting in her chair, looking out of her windowpane and noning what is going on in other peoples lives. She has no sociallife and she only leaves the house when she has to.Alan Bennett shows Miss Ruddocks forlornness through her obsession of piece of writing letter. She uses these letters as a way of communicating withthe world outside her home. In the drama, before going to prison, wedo not hear Miss Ruddock have a meaningful conference with anyoneother than her doctor, who she is talking to, not rough her ownhealth, but intimately her neighbours child, who she feels is beingneglected. This shows that she is lonely because she has no closefamily or friends around her who sh e can talk to so she think that bywriting letters she is helping the people around her and makingherself feel useful. In the monologue Miss Ruddock writes letters to awide range of people. totally of the letters have one thing is common, which is that they are all letters of complaint. She goes to thefuneral of somebody she barely knew and complained to the funeraldirectors about grown men sulking in the rhododendrons with lozenge endsin their mouths. She similarly, after a trip to London, wrote to the Queento complain about some dog poo in front of Buckingham Palace. Thistells the viewers that she is lonely because she pass on talk about thesmallest things if it means she will be communicating with somebody.Miss Ruddock also replies to ... ... things with which to occupy her time. I am that busy Ive opted for bookbinding and dressmaking. With these things shehas had no time with which to write letters and she has nothing tocomplain about. The viewer also knows she is lonely as her last wordsin the monologue are I am so happy. For most people prison is the finish up time of their lives but prison gave Miss Ruddock a new demonstrateof life and now she has so little time for herself and feels so wantedand needed she loves life.I think that when Miss Ruddock is released from prison she will notcontinue to write letters. I think that, for most people the written reporthad a sad ending, but Miss Ruddock learned a masses from prison, ithelped her to overcome her terrible loneliness by making her feelshe had a purpose. It also taught her how to communicate with peopleorally, and how to make friends.
